History 

The Karrel Douglas Educational Foundation (KDEF) was created in the loving memory of its namesake, Karrel Douglas.  Throughout her life, she remained committed to serving individuals and communities in need. Her mantra was: when one recognizes the fullness of life, she can manifest a heart of service in any situation. Following her lead, we are committed to service, which “doesn't start when we have something to give, but instead grows naturally when we have nothing left to take.” Karrel’s powerful legacy lives on through KDEF. We begin to play our part – first, by acknowledging the contributions we receive. We are thankful to have the support of many, allowing us to scale our service to new heights. We are dedicated to being a conduit of support for the underserved. KDEF will continue to work tirelessly to pay forward our gifts with a heart of joy.
